A Native Hawaiian, R. Hokulei Lindsey comes to Carbondale from the University of Wisconsin Law School. While at Wisconsin, Professor Lindsey taught Property and classes in Constitutional Law and Federal Indian Law Advanced Seminar. She received her JD from the University of Hawaii's Richardson School of Law and an LL.M. from the University of Wisconsin Law School upon completion of her Hastie Fellowship.

Professor Lindsey's primary area of research focuses on the intersection of property law and Native peoples' land rights and territory. Her interests also include intellectual property and traditional knowledge rights of Native peoples.
