Jeff M. Plesko received his B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1970, spent 1970-1972 in the U.S. Army, and received his J.D. from the Southern Illinois School of Law in 1977.
He served as an Assistant Defender with the Office of the State Appellate Defender, and in 1980 accepted a position with the then-new Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission, serving as Staff Attorney, Managing Attorney, Appellate Coordinator, and finally Director of the Legal Advocacy Service of the Commission.
He has participated on various legislative task forces and educational panels, and was the recipient of the School of Law’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2001. He began teaching Mental Health Law in 2003.
