Members of the School of Law faculty are drawn from distinguished practice and academic settings. They are known not only for their legal research and scholarship, but also for their ability and commitment to teaching. The faculty values educational innovation and strive to implement the best of theoretical and experiential teaching in the classroom and clinical environments. Their goal is to teach the students to become independent learners who know how to analyze and solve problems for a lifetime of practice.
The faculty includes nationally recognized scholars in such fields as natural resources law, tax law, evidence, international law, intellectual property, elder law, family law, and legal history. Not only do SIU Law students have the opportunity to study with professors who are leaders in the legal profession, but serve on local, state, and national committees.
