Experiential Learning

The nationally-ranked Lawyering Skills Program and the ABA Gambrell Award-winning Professionalism Series bridge the gap between theory and practice and prepare graduates to function effectively as professionals. Both programs are incorporated into the first-year curriculum as an effort to begin practice-ready instruction in the first year of law school and continue as the students’ progress through law school. Campus and Community

Southern Illinois University is located in Carbondale, Illinois, a beautiful setting next to the majestic Shawnee National Forest. A classic university town, the population of 47,000 includes approximately 20,000 university students of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds. Exam
International Law Programs & Activities

SIU students and faculty are involved in a number of international law-related activities, including a variety of international law courses, a summer study abroad program in Ireland and Wales, an Asylum and Refugee Law moot court team, an Immigration Detention Project, and an active student-run International Law Society (ILS), which hosts speakers and programs related to international law.  Each year, several SIU faculty members and students engage in international and comparative law research, conferences, and other projects.
