Inaugural 'Pro Bono Week' at SIU Law

The SIU School of Law and Equal Justice Works coordinated a series of programs this week to coincide with the American Bar Association’s National Pro Bono Celebration.
The week began with in-class presentations and ended with a training program to prepare students to provide pro bono assistance through Illinois Legal Aid On-Line.
Assistant Dean Mike Ruiz posted information about pro bono work throughout the week on SIU Law's Career Services blog.
Representatives from several local offices with pro bono opportunities met with students during table sessions in the Formal Lounge.

On Friday, students in the Professionalism and the Law class received information about the new pro bono requirement and Professor Wright moderated a panel of law students, faculty, and attorneys who talked about the benefits of pro bono work.
Also on Friday, Illinois Legal Aid On-Line conducted a training about on their on-line pro bono opportunity, Live Help.
