SIU Law alum Sarah Taylor receives ISBA Board of Governors Award
June 28, 2016
SIU Law alumna Sarah Taylor, Class of 2002, received the Board of Governors Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) during its 140th Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 18, at the Westin O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill.
The award recognizes Taylor for her long-standing and exemplary contributions to the association and the legal profession.
Taylor was selected for the award because of her perseverance to have the ISBA support the high school mock trial program when it faced elimination because of budget pressures. Her proposed solution was ultimately accepted and has served as a strong foundation for ISBA’s continued support of the program. Taylor continues to support the program by organizing more than 40 schools to participate, assisting with writing the program, and soliciting volunteers to help judge and evaluate the trials.
In his nomination, ISBA President Umberto S. Davi praised Taylor for the invaluable time and exceptional effort that she has put into the high school mock trial program. He shared that without her participating and leadership, the event would not be nearly as successful as it is.
Taylor is an associate at Barrett, Twomey, Broom, Hughes, & Hoke, LLP in Carbondale, Ill.
