George A. Norwood
Adjunct Professor of Law
George A. Norwood is an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, a position he has held since 1998. In this position, he conducts and directs criminal investigations; organizes and presents evidence in pre-trial hearings, trials, sentencing hearings, and other court-related procedures; and handles appeals and prepares briefs before the appellate courts.
Professor Norwood previously served as the assistant dean for admissions and student affairs at the SIU School of Law (1997–98), as an associate in the employment litigation and employee benefits sections of the Indianapolis law firm of Ice Miller Donadio and Ryan (1994–97), and as law clerk for the Honorable Robert L. Miller Jr., U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Indiana (1992–94). He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Roosevelt University and a J.D. from Southern Illinois University, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Southern Illinois University Law Journal and a member of the ABA Moot Court team which placed fourth in the national finals in 1991.
Since October 2005, Professor Norwood has served as co-host of InFocus, a weekly television show on WSIU Public Television that spotlights the southern Illinois region and its people.
