Adjunct Professor of Law
Robert Patino has been the Director of Technology Transfer for the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine since 2006. In that position, he directs an office that analyzes technology disclosures, bundles meritorious technology packages in an intellectual property portfolio, and out-licenses those rights to industry partners for commercial development. He previously worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as an analyst and for Greer, Burns and Crain Ltd. as a patent agent before opening his own law practice in Springfield, Illinois.
Mr. Patino holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a J.D. from DePaul University. He founded the Innovation Viability Network in Springfield, is the co-chair of the Licensing Executive Society St. Louis Chapter, leads the Small Office Technology Transfer Practice Manual Chapter for the Association of University Technology Managers, and is the treasurer of the Illinois Government Bar Association.
