Stephanie Black

Ms. Black recently joined the firm Beatty Motil, in Glen Carbon, IL. The firm focuses on personal injury, wrongful death, workers' compensation, estate and probate and general litigation.

Ms. Black was an Associate at Kurowski Shultz LLC in O'Fallon, IL. She concentrated on complex litigation matters and was a part of the firm’s Investigations and Compliance Practice Group, which provided educational institutions and corporations with independent investigation services and compliance training for issues including harassment and discrimination.

She previously served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Madison County, Illinois. As a prosecutor, she successfully handled both misdemeanor and felony trials, and this experience served as a foundation for her current investigations and compliance practice area. 

Ms. Black obtained her J.D. degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2012. While in law school she participated in the Moot Court Program and was voted Chief Judge/President of the Trial Advocacy Team. Ms. Black participated in several national trial advocacy competitions, earning “Best Advocate” at the 2012 Texas Young Lawyer’s Association Competition in Chicago. She was also inducted into The Order of Barristers for excelling in advocacy and service.

Ms. Black was selected to participate as the first foreign lawyer in the Associate Foreign lawyer Exchange Program that Kurowski Shultz LLC co-sponsored with the Scognamiglio International Law Firm in Naples, Italy. In September 2016, Ms. Black spent six weeks in Naples at the Scognamiglio firm, visiting and observing its practice in the fields of international business and commercial transactions. In addition, she attended a Human Rights Symposium in Torun, Poland in October 2016 led by Mr. Kurowski.
