Illinois Supreme Court to Visit SIU

SIU will welcome the Illinois Supreme Court to campus on March 18, 2025. The highest court in the state will hear two oral arguments over the course of two hours at the SIU Student Center located at 1255 Lincoln Dr. Carbondale, IL 62901.

Doors open at 8:30 AM and guests are asked to arrive by 9:15 AM for opening remarks. Oral arguments are set to begin at 10 AM. We anticipate this event will reach capacity, so if you would like to attend, please arrive early. Once the arguments begin at 10 AM, no one will be permitted to enter. The case summaries and other details will be released soon.

Backpacks, other large items or bags, food, and drinks will not be allowed. Proper courtroom etiquette is required to attend.

Parking:

For event parking, we recommend using Lot 13 directly in front of the Student Center. With the limited spots available in the lot, parking will be on a first-come basis for the event, and no parking passes will be needed. We recommend that school buses drop off students in front of the Student Center and park in Lot 18 by the Banterra Center.

For lunch, we suggest heading to the first floor of the SIU Student Center to our Marketplace Food Court, where you'll find a variety of dining options including Cantina Bravo, Chick-fil-A, Freshly Tossed, Maroon Spoon, Parma, and Starbucks.
