Andrew Pardieck

Andrew Pardieck, Professor of Law

Professor Pardieck graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington. While in law school, he served as articles editor on the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, and following law school enrolled in the University of Hokkaido School of Law. He completed his doctorate degree in law at Hokkaido, where he wrote his dissertation, in Japanese, on Japanese and U.S. securities law.

After graduate school, Professor Pardieck practiced in Indiana and then Tokyo. His practice in Indiana focused on complex civil litigation, primarily products liability. In Tokyo, he worked as General Counsel for Temple University, Japan Campus, with varied responsibilities including compliance with corporate, education, and employment law; negotiating and drafting contracts; and risk management.

Prior to joining the faculty at SIU, Professor Pardieck taught as an Assistant Professor of Law for the Temple University Beasley School of Law at its Japan Campus. He also has taught as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington School of Law, Seattle, and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington. He has published on a variety of topics, including Japanese law and society, securities and commodities law, consumer finance, alternative dispute resolution, and the legal profession.
